The Village Playing Field

Just up the road from the village hall is the playing field. Here you will find a variety of play equipment for younger children plus space to play games such as football and also to simply run around and enjoy being outdoors. The field has a lovely open aspect to the south with views across the fields to Cadbury Castle.

Over the years, a variety of events have taken place on the field. November sees the village bonfire night and fireworks night, with around 300 people from both the village and surrounding areas coming along. The field was the venue for Galhampton’s very own Party in the Park for 11 years from 2005 to 2015, our highly popular village festival that attracted people from far and wide. Up to 1,500 people were on the field, together with the stage and a variety of marquees; hard to imagine when you stand and look at the field, but it never felt crowded.

The field was gifted to the village in 1978 by Jack Bartlett, a former resident of Galhampton, and was governed by the Jack Bartlett Playing Field Trust, this trust being amalgamated with the Galhampton Village Hall charity in 1998 to form the current charity, Galhampton Village Hall and Playing Field.
