Over 150 villagers enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the opening event for their new village hall on Saturday. Following a look round the new facility, we all went outside to cheer the mounting of the village hall sign be three residents who were all born and bred in Galhampton and then take part in the village photograph. We retuned inside to toast the new hall and enjoy an excellent afternoon tea and a stunning cake modelled on the new hall. Lady Dewey, who opened the previous hall, did the honours in cutting the cake.
There was a lovely, celebratory atmosphere in the hall and the response from villagers was extremely positive, with comments such as “wow”, “stunning” and “great facility”. All the product of a strong and committed community. The village art group put on a display of their talented work and the village choir entertained us in style during the afternoon tea. We look forward to many happy and busy years in our new hall.
